Leslie Uggams stars as Gran Mimi in the New York City Center Encores! revival of Jelly's Last Jam, the Tony Award-winning musical that chronicles and celebrates the history of jazz as seen and heard through the music of its self-proclaimed inventor, Jelly Roll Morton. Written by George C. Wolfe and directed here by Robert O'Hara, this revival also stars Nicholas Christopher as Jelly, John Clay III as Jack the Bear, Alaman Diadhiou as Young Jelly, Joaquina Kalukango as Anita, Tiffany Mann as Miss Mamie, Okierete Onaowdowan as Buddy Bolden, and Billy Porter as Chimney Man. The original Broadway cast Hunnies, Mamie Duncan-Gibbs, Stephanie Pope Lofgren, and Allison M. Williams, reprise their roles in stunning fashion.
