LESLIE UGGAMS RETURNS TO ENCORES! IN JELLY'S LAST JAM FEB. 21-MAR. 3

This Tony Award-winning Musical Features the Music of Jazz King Jelly Roll Morton

Leslie Uggams returns to Encores! in a glorious revival of the 1992 Tony Award-winning musical Jelly's Last Jam running Feb. 21-Mar. 3 at New York City Center. Starring as the Ancestor Gran Mimi, Leslie is joined in the company by Nicholas Christopher as Jelly, John Clay III as Jack the Bear, Alaman Diadhiou as Young Jelly, Juaquina Kalukango as Anita, Tiffany Mann as Miss Mamie, Okierete Onaodowan as Buddy Bolden, and Billy Porter as Chimney Man. The original Hunnies, Mamie Duncan-Gibbs, Stefanie Pope Lofgren, and Allison M. Williams, reprise their roles in stunning fashion.

Jelly's Last Jam chronicles and celebrates the history of jazz as told through the music of its self=proclaimed inventor, Jelly Roll Morton. Written by Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, this production also features rapturous tap and choreography by Dormeshia and Edgar Godineaux. Guest Music Director is Jason Michael Webb, and Director is the legendary Robert O'Hara.
