LESLIE UGGAMS FEATURED IN 'AMERICAN FICTION' MOVIE

Biting Satirical Comedy Based on Novel ERASURE Debuts in Theaters This December

AMERICAN FICTION, the new feature film written and directed by Cord Jefferson based on the best-selling Percival Everett novel ERASURE, will open exclusively in theaters this December, just in time for the holidays. With a cast that includes Jeffrey Wright, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sterling K. Brown, and Leslie Uggams, the winner of the Toronto International Film Festival People's Choice Award is already receiving rave reviews and Oscar buzz.

In addition to the TIFF award, AMERICAN FICTION has won the Humor and Humanity Award at the Heartland International Film Festival; the U.S. Cinema Award and Breakthrough Directing Award for Cord Jefferson at the Mill Valley Film Festival; the Best Gala Film Award at the San Diego International Film Festival; and the Audience Award for Narrative Film at the Middelburg Film Festival. The Hollywood Reporter called it "smart and, thanks to its fine cast, has genuine heart." Critic Lovia Gyarke also praised Leslie Uggams for her "increasingly somber performance as Agnes," a mother dealing with deeping dementia.
