LESLIE GIVES VOICE TO JAMES MCBRIDE AUDIO BOOK “SONG YET SUNG” NOW LISTED ON HER CD/DVD PAGE

Restored Tracks from Leslie’s Early LP “The Eyes of God” Are Also Now Available Online for Download

Leslie Uggams has recently added two new items to her CD/DVD catalog listed here on her website. The first is an audio book that Leslie reads called SONG YET SUNG, an intriguing adventure novel by best-selling author James McBride (The Color of Water). The second is Leslie’s digitally restored religious album THE EYES OF GOD first released as an EP in 1959.

SONG YET SUNG has received glowing reviews from Publishers Weekly, Bookmarks Magazine, and readers alike. According to Publisher’s Weekly, “Escaped slaves, free blacks, slave-catchers and plantation owners weave a tangled web of intrigue and adventure in McBride's intricately constructed and impressive second novel. McBride hasn't lost his touch: he nails the horrors of slavery as well as he does the power of hope and redemption.”

As the reader, Leslie gives a unique voice to each character, from the young runaway slave Liz Spocott, who can see into the future, to the opportunistic slave catcher Patty Cannon, who pursues her. Called a “powerful page turner” and “suspenseful, action-packed adventure,” SONG YET SUNG is available at Amazon.com.

THE EYES OF GOD was Leslie’s first religious album released in 1959 when she was only 16. The album was recorded with the Glenn Osser Orchestra and included 12 tracks, six of which have been digitally restored and made available as MP3s. All six tracks, including the title song, can be downloaded from Amazon.com.
