LESLIE UGGAMS GUEST STARS ON FINAL SEASON OF NURSE JACKIE

Episodes Air April 19, 26 and May 3 at 9 p.m. on SHOWTIME

Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress, singer, and recording artist Leslie Uggams will guest star on three episodes of SHOWTIME’s “Nurse Jackie” starting this Sunday, April 19, at 9 p.m. Additional episodes air April 26 and May 3 in this the seventh and final season of the acclaimed SHOWTIME original series.

In episodes titled “Deal,” “Godfathering,” and “Nice Ladies,” Uggams portrays Vivian, a frail elderly woman whose daughter Charlane (played by fellow Tony Award-winning actress Tonya Pinkins) wants to put her in an assisted living facility. Nurse Jackie, played by Emmy Award winner Edie Falco, intervenes on her patient’s behalf, getting Vivian back on her feet - and scoring some fringe benefits of her own.

“I’m thrilled to be doing this guest appearance on ‘Nurse Jackie,’” says Uggams. “Not only is it a great role, but it’s on one of my favorite television shows. My character’s storyline mirrors that of so many senior citizens today. They are at the mercy of a broken healthcare system that overmedicates and undermanages. Nurse Jackie, despite her own issues, represents those dedicated nurses who want to be part of the solution instead of the problem.”

Falco stars as Jackie Peyton, “a skilled nurse with a nasty drug habit. She lies, cheats, steals, hurts, bamboozles friends, fools family, pops pills and breaks hearts. But you still root for her because on the worst day of your life, hers is the only face you want to see. With an addict’s survival skills and an attitude that just won’t quit, she’ll do whatever it takes to hold onto the things that truly matter to her – her friends, her family and her job.” Other series regulars are Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Stephen Wallem, Dominic Fumusa, Ruby Jerins, Anna Deavere Smith, Peter Facinelli, Mackenzie Aladjem, and Betty Gilpin.

NURSE JACKIE airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. on SHOWTIME. For more information and a video preview of Season 7, please visit the show’s official website.
