LESLIE UGGAMS JOINS DRAMA LEAGUE TRIBUTE TO JAMES EARL JONES FEBRUARY 2

Leslie Uggams is one of dozens of stage and screen stars who will pay tribute to legendary actor James Earl Jones on Monday, February 2 during the Drama League’s 31st annual Musical Celebration of Broadway. The black-tie event will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Pierre Hotel, 2 East 61st Street, New York City. Roger T. Danforth and Trevor Tamashiro are producers.

The starry line-up includes Elizabeth Ashley, Annaleigh Ashford and Kristine Nielsen, all fellow cast members from Jones’ current Broadway hit You Can’t Take It with You; Kelsey Grammer, star of Frasier and the upcoming Finding Neverland; Tyne Daly, soon to star in the new Broadway musical It Shoulda Been You; Jefferson Mays of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder; and James Monroe Iglehart, the Tony Award-winning genie of Aladdin. Joining them are Jones’ good friends and previous co-stars Phylicia Rashad (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) and Leslie Uggams (On Golden Pond).

Proceeds from the gala event benefit the Drama League’s educational initiatives for promising young artists. Tickets start at $750 and are available at the Drama League website.
